in 1985 and the Seattle Prostate Institute in 1997, Drs. Peter Grimm and John Sylvester have treated more than 7,000 patients and
trained over 6,000 physicians, nurses and physicists. Their interest in improving prostate cancer care has led to establishing the
Seattle Prostate Cancer Center as a premier center for Prostate Seed Implantation.

European study: PSA screening reduces mortality up to 31%
PSA screening has reduced prostate cancer mortality up to 31%, according to findings from the European Randomized Study of Screening for Prostate Cancer (ERSPC).

Important new info regarding radical prostatectomy surgery: The most serious complications…appeared more often in men who underwent minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Grimm presented with the President’s Award at American Brachytherapy Society’s 2009 Annual Meeting. This award is given by the ABS committee for outstanding contributions in the field of brachytherapy.
Seattle Prostate Cancer Center physicians first in the country to use new Thin Strand® technology. Developed in cooperation with GE Oncura, Drs. John Sylvester and Peter Grimm presented this new device at this year's annual SPI conference in Seattle, WA. The initial results will be presented at the ASTRO medical convention 2009 in Chicago, IL.
Prostate Cancer Results Study Group announces Comparative Effectiveness of Prostate Cancer Treatments. Dr. Grimm, lead author, will present the outcomes this fall at ASTRO's 2009 annual meeting.
15-year results show excellent disease free survival for seed implantation. Recently accepted for publication, Drs. Sylvester and Grimm, et al will be presenting the results at the ASTRO 2009 convention.
